The MM-5490D is a 2GB PCI DRAM memory buffer
with six RACEway ports and a 32bit/33MHz PCI
port for use in multi-processing applications
with intensive data streaming requirements. The
card is capable of simultaneous burst mode
access providing an aggregate bandwidth of up to
452MB/s. The MM-5490D can be placed at the
front or rear end of a real time DSP system to
buffer incoming and outgoing data. Individual
compute nodes can then receive, process and
transfer streaming data at will, which can
greatly reduce total compute time for the DSP’s
and arbitration and overhead for the host,
improving overall system performance. The card
also provides the benefit of being a gateway
from RACEway into the PCI bus.
In addition to having a 32-bit/33MHz PCI
port, the card has two RACEway ports
Over-The-Top and four RACEway ports on the face
of the board. Each of these four ports has an
individual memory bank with up to 512MB of DRAM.
Each memory bank can be accessed simultaneously,
but only through its dedicated RACEway port.
Seven nodes on three RACEway crossbars and a
RACEway PXB are utilized to deliver simultaneous
access from the two over the top RACEway ports
and the PCI. The PCI is capable of being both a
target (slave) and a DMA initiator (master), in
order to maximize read and write throughput over
the bus. Reliability is ensured by burn-in and
running memory diagnostics that check operations
for 48 hours while temperature-cycling boards
between 0° to +60° C. |
